After the oil discoveries in the UAE and the resultant economic boom, the community has changed from tribal to a mixed urbanized community with a composition of multinational groups forming a community structure of more than 35 nationalities with varied cultures.

The population of our student body is a reflection of the existing community of the UAE. Below is an outline of the composition of the student community in our Abu Dhabi International School (AIS): -

    1. The total number of our students KG through Grade 12 is 960 as of September 99.
    2. UAE national students represent 32%
    3. Students of other Arab nationalities 52%
    4. Other nationalities 16%
    5. 38% are in the upper school(7-12 grade)
    6. 62% are in the elementary school
    7. 51% of the upper school have joined AIS on or before 1993

The religion ­

    1. Islam is the denominating religion, in population and authority
    2. Christians & other believes.

Despite of the different cultures, the students share a healthy atmosphere and the respect to other believes and traditions.

With respect to others, the general background of the community, we believe that most of the children come from educated families with adequate family norms and social controls.

 

FACULTY ­

 Learning is a journey of exploration and discovery, while teaching is a journey of mission and struggle to enliven the thrill to have the learner acquire knowledge.

Abu Dhabi International School is proud of the teaching team which, as individuals are professionals and devotional.

The nationalities of the teaching team are mainly Canadians and Lebanese.
